Kitara became the first team to win a competitive match at the newly opened Hoima City Stadium after a commanding 4–0 victory over Buhimba United Saints in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Friday.

The Bunyoro derby was effectively settled inside the opening half hour as George Senkaaba struck twice early to set Kitara on their way in front of a capacity crowd witnessing the stadium’s first top-flight fixture.

Senkaaba opened the scoring after just four minutes when Buhimba failed to clear a corner, allowing the forward to finish from close range.

Nine minutes later he doubled the lead, heading home after goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba misjudged another corner.

The early goals put Buhimba on the back foot and forced coach Robert Mukasa into a change between the posts, replacing Kiyimba with Ronald Mutebi.

However, Kitara continued to dominate aerial situations. Kabon Living extended the lead on 33 minutes when he scored directly from a corner, further punishing Buhimba’s defensive struggles.

Living later added his second of the evening after being set up by Edson Agondeze, completing a comprehensive victory.

The result moved Kitara to 46 points from 21 matches, just one point behind leaders Vipers, who have played a game fewer and were scheduled to be in action on Saturday.

The second half was more subdued as Kitara managed the game comfortably.

Buhimba saw more of the ball after the break and attempted several efforts from distance but were unable to threaten a comeback.

The defeat leaves Buhimba in 14th place on 15 points, only two points above UPDF, who are second from bottom.

Elsewhere on Friday, NEC defeated Police 1–0, a result that lifts them to 34 points in seventh place, tightening the race for the top half of the table while Police remain sixth on 35 points after their 21st match.

Muhammed Senoga scored the game’s only goal on 67 minutes at the Kira Road Stadium.

At the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, BUL and Mbarara City played out a goalless draw.

BUL moved to 30 points in eighth place, while Mbarara climbed slightly to 16 points in 13th.

At the top, the title race remains tight with Vipers leading on 47 points from 20 matches, followed closely by Kitara..

KCCA (42 points) and SC Villa (38), all in action on Saturday, remain within reach as the campaign heads into its decisive stretch.

At the bottom, Calvary remain rooted to last place with five points, while UPDF (13) and Buhimba (15) continue to battle to stay above the relegation line.
