{"id":802,"date":"2025-08-25T10:18:44","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T07:18:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsnest.co.ug\/?p=802"},"modified":"2025-08-25T12:18:49","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T09:18:49","slug":"chan-2024-aldrine-nsubugas-assessment-of-the-uganda-cranes-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsnest.co.ug\/?p=802","title":{"rendered":"CHAN 2024: Aldrine Nsubuga&#8217;s Assessment Of The Uganda Cranes Team"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Seasoned journalist Aldrine Nsubuga Sr. has come out with comprehensive assessment of the Uganda Cranes team following their exit from the ongoing TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uganda reached uncharted territory by qualifying for the knockout stages for the first time in their CHAN history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In front of over 35,000 at the Mandela National Stadium, they matched holders Senegal in intensity, enjoyed more possession, and crafted the better chances but lost 1-0 at the end of the 90 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oumar Ba\u2019s 62nd-minute finish was enough for the champions, while goalkeeper Marc Diouf and centre-back Seyni Ndiaye repelled Uganda\u2019s late surge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cranes left with their heads held high, their campaign marked by resilience, a comeback draw against South Africa, and a growing belief in their ability to trouble Africa\u2019s elite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nsubuga, through his X handle, assessed each Cranes player and below is his assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Hard luck <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UgandaCranes?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@UgandaCranes<\/a>.
